From our Presbyterian Historical Society regarding the history of the Presbytery of Wabash Valley. "In 1954, the Synod of Indiana submitted "Overture 11 - on the merger of Fort Wayne and Muncie Presbyteries and the transfer of Hamilton County and the Noblesville Presbyterian Church to the Indianapolis Presbytery." (p. 124, Minutes of the General Assembly 1954). This overture was approved and the Presbytery of Wabash River was erected in 1955. It continued after 1958, under the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. (UPCUSA). In 1972, The Presbytery of Wabash River was dissolved and reorganized as the Presbytery of Wabash Valley. The Presbytery of Muncie was erected in 1849 within the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A., Old School. The Presbytery of Fort Wayne, Old School was erected in 1845, Presbytery of Fort Wayne, New School was erected in 1846. These presbyteries united in 1871, and were active until merger in 1954.
